A client recently sent me an email including this article which brought up an interesting point. So often we are torn between pressing family or work events and our own personal health. Inevitably our workouts take a back burner to family and work in these situations… but what if they didn’t have to?
Researchers at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario found that even a few minutes of training at an intensity approaching your maximum capacity produces molecular changes within muscles comparable to those of several hours of running or bike riding.
While I am always an advocate of proper warm up and cool down, I am more so an advocate of “something is better than nothing”. This seven minute workout routine is the perfect example of a routine that you can do with little to no equipment, any where, any time. This is something that you should save for days when you just can’t break away from your work or family responsibilities to get to the gym.
That being said, remember this is meant to be an all out, high intensity workout. So if you are going to try it, make sure that you give 90-100% effort for seven minutes. Here it is:The Scientific 7 Minute Workout – Gretchen Reynolds
